Mary Sullivan runs an online shop called Karate Kat Graphics as a collaboration with her children and donates half of every dollar earned through the shop to children’s charities — Save the Children is this year’s charity. She has put together a tutorial about how to make a family cookbook and asked me to create a full page (8 1/2″ x 11″) printable recipe template that can be used to create a personal cookbook, and I was happy to oblige!
Update: I’ve added a version of the recipe page that has editable form fields, so you can type in your recipes and send them to family and friends via email! Download this version below.
As we head into the holiday season, many of us are thinking more about food and tradition and are planning on putting together a family cookbook of our own to give as a gift or to use in our own kitchens. You can download the template and use it to help create your own cookbooks.
Download the original recipe page template (188 Kb PDF). Download the recipe page with editable form fields (165 Kb). Use File > Save As when you’re saving the editable version of the recipe page, and rename it (example: Chocolate-Chip-Cookies.pdf) so you don’t overwrite the original template. You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to download and use these files. Download the reader for free here. These templates are for personal, non-commercial use only.

posted: February 5th, 2010 at 11:09 pmThanks so much for the template I know nothing about cookbooks or recipes or cooking, but I promised a friend I do the legwork & find the simpliest format so she could create a recipe book for her daughter, filled with recipes handed down over 3 generations. Some of the original very old and very stained handwritten recipes are difficult to read, but very, very precious… If anyone has any other good suggestions about a site that makes typing in the recipes easier, I’d love the help! Thank you

posted: January 31st, 2012 at 12:38 pmhey kristen!~this is as cute as a bug’s ear! lol! i’ve been trying to come up with an idea that would be attractive, but also easy to read and with enough space to add all of the information needed to follow the recipe. I have 2 grown sons, ages 29 and 35. They are also jokingly telling me about some incident one or the other has had in which they have attempted to cook something that one of my sons has suggested they have for a meal. They have often heard the remark, or a remark similar to, “It tastes okay, but it doesn’t taste like mom’s!” or “I don’t think that’s the way my mom fixes it!”. Both girls are very good natured about this, and in fact, it has become a little joke between them and me. I’ve reassured both of them that at one time, I couldn’t make anything like mom did, either (in reference to my husband referring to my cooking in comparison to his mom’s)! I plan to use your darling template to make each of the girls a cookbook with favorite recipes in it and put each page in a protective sheet that I’ll organzie in small loose-leaf notebooks. The little pics on your templates would also be really cute if I were to add them to the outside of each notebook cover by tracing the pictures onto the notebooks and using either craft paints or permanent markers to fill each picture in with. Thank you so much for helping resolve this demise! Sincerely, Judy

posted: October 26th, 2012 at 5:39 pmThis is an easy and very cute layout for recipes. Not really having the money to get much for anyone this christmas and with my grandma being to ill this past year to be able to cook for any family holidays whats more easier than getting her recipes together for everyone to enjoy. Greatly appreciated.
