Beaded Mini Halloween Wreath

This craft is part of the 13 Days of Halloween project. Download number templates for the project, as well as the bug template for Day 3, in the tips and supplies post. Links to all of the crafts from this project can be found in the main 13 Days of Halloween post.

This mini wreath is super quick and easy to make. You’ll only need a few supplies, and you can easily change up the color of the beads to create mini wreaths for different holidays and occasions. String one with thread or ribbon to make beaded wreath ornaments for the Christmas tree, too!

Ruffly Felt Rosette Wreath

Have you ever started a project thinking, “This is going to be so cool! I’m totally going to finish it in a few hours, and I’ll probably end up making half a dozen more because I like it so much,” only to find yourself, weeks later, still working on the same project with not much of an end in sight? Yeah, this was one of those projects. However, I did finish, and I love, love, love the result, so it’s a very happy ending.

How to Make Felt Holiday Ornaments

I’ve been working on a pretty ambitious felt tree skirt project this year, and it’s left me with a bunch of leftover ivory felt, so I’ve been trying to come up with some small projects that make use of the felt leftovers. These little ornaments aren’t at all difficult to make, even for beginners at embroidery, and even though they make extensive use of the fancy (and intimidating, so I’ve read) French knot. Trust me, the French knot isn’t difficult at all once you get a few practice knots in, and here’s a a video that takes you through it in real time, so if you’re a visual learner like me you’ll be a French knot pro in no time and will want to use this stitch anywhere that you possibly can.

Cinnamon Dough Ornaments

This project started off as an advent calendar and kind of took on a life of its own. I was going to make fluted circle ornaments with the calendar numbers cut out of the middle, but then I realized that numbers like “6” and “8” were going to look a little odd because their entire interiors would be cut out. D’oh! So, I morphed the project into a riff on the polymer clay wreath ornaments that I made earlier this year.

13 Days of Halloween
After years of thinking about it, I’ve finally made a 13 Days of Halloween calendar! This was lots of fun to make, and it’s going to be even more fun when the 19th rolls around and I can start to use it. Throughout next week, I’m going to share tutorials for all of the crafty projects that make up the 13 days, and I’ll include printable numbers and templates so you can make one of these fun calendars for yourself. Many of the individual projects can be repurposed as place cards and place card embellishments, favor boxes, and a couple would be great tranformed into Christmas decorations or ornaments, too.

Porcelain Look Wreath Ornaments

Several months ago, I was contacted by an editor from Woman’s Day about creating a craft for their Best Ideas for Christmas special issue, and I am so excited to finally be able to share the news with you! I’ve been looking around the grocery store and at craft stores for the issue for a couple of weeks and haven’t spotted it yet, but I received two advance copies of the issue from Woman’s Day in the mail a few days ago, and it should be showing up in stores soon.
