Farmer Dave's CSA Week 5

There were some fun food surprises in this past week’s CSA box, including green beans (the freshest I’ve seen in a long, long time), a huge bunch of rainbow chard (I’m becoming addicted to chard sauteed with a little olive oil, garlic, and onions), lots of basil, zucchini and summer squash (again, addiction-forming when sauteed with a little olive oil and garlic), and kohlrabi (the alien-looking purple bulb above). It’s been a yummy week (lots of sauteeing with olive oil, garlic/onions going on around here), and I think that this may be the first week that we’ve finished everything that we got in our box before the next pickup!

Die Cutting Files Citrus Slices

Last week on Paper Crave, I shared these fun paper citrus slice and box templates, and I wanted to let you all know about them, too. You can use the citrus slices for a bunch of different types of projects – everything from scrapbooking project embellishments to handmade cards to citrus-themed party details, and I’ve included SVG, GSD, DXF, and Silhouette Studio files (half slices and full slices) for those of you who have digital cutters, as well as a PDF with all of the files if you’ll be cutting the slices out by hand.

Also included in the zip file are SVG, GSD, DXF, and PDF templates for the favor/gift box, and I created a Silhouette Studio template file that includes perforations. PDF files for the striped papers are included, too, so you can make your own striped, citrus slice embellished boxes.

Download the Template Files

Please read : All files are for personal, non-commercial use only and are © Kristen Magee. You do not have permission to redistribute, resell, or claim any of these files as your own, and you may not use the citrus slices or boxes as elements in products that you will be selling.

Farmer Dave's CSA Week Four

My CSA box this past week was the heaviest yet, and it was filled with chard, lettuce, a big bag of peas, the most adorable baby cucumbers that I think I’ve ever seen (it was really hard to cut them up because they were just so darn chubby and cute!), a few types of summer squash / zucchini, a small bulb of fennel, lovely scallions, and a little bunch of garlic scapes. I love this farm share thing! It’s like a surprise food adventure every week. What will the next week bring, I wonder?

Gluten and Sugar Free Chocolate Beet Cake

It was the night before my first ever CSA pickup, and it felt like Christmas Eve. What great produce was I going to find in my share? What was I going to make with it? Ooh, the sheer excitement of it all!

Farmer Dave's CSA, Week 3

The holiday week threw me off a little, but I wanted to post about last week’s CSA before I pick up my new share tomorrow. As the season progresses, more color is popping up in my CSA box, and last week’s was great! Beautiful rainbow chard made an appearance, as did a big bunch of radishes and chives, the latter of which I used in my July 4th potato salad. Mmm…good. A second bunch of garlic scapes (I’m a lucky girl!), a big head of bok choy, two kousa squash, and some cippollini onions, which I caramelized as a topping for burgers, were also packed into the color-filled box. Can’t wait to see what I get tomorrow!

Farmer Dave's CSA, Week 2

This past Friday’s CSA box was filled with lots more greens, including spinach, red lettuce (does this count as a green?), and a huge head of romaine lettuce that we used to make tasty dinner salads, but what made me happiest were all of the little surprises that were tucked into the bottom of the box.
