This mini wreath is super quick and easy to make. You’ll only need a few supplies, and you can easily change up the color of the beads to create mini wreaths for different holidays and occasions. String one with thread or ribbon to make beaded wreath ornaments for the Christmas tree, too!

This little book page tree is one of the crafts in the 13 Days project that can easily be transformed into a Christmas craft. Just switch up the color of the butterflies with something more Christmas-y, and you have a little Christmas tree that can be used as a decoration, a favor, a place setting embellishment,  or even a (full size) Christmas tree ornament. This craft has a long-ish list of supplies, but many of them are easy to find things like sewing pins, scissors, glue, and toothpicks, so don’t let the length of the list scare you!

I love pom poms, so I had to incorporate them into the 13 Days project in some way, and I’m really happy with how this little pom pom topiary turned out. These are small enough that you could use them as favors / place setting cards, too. Just put your guests’ names on a paper flag instead of the number. And, if you’re concerned about glitter getting onto dinner plates or the table, you could either paint the base instead, or put a piece of paper (punched in a circle or some other shape) underneath it to keep the glitter “contained”.

Medallions, rosettes, accordion fold circles … whatever you call them, they’re a neat detail that you can use as everything from ornaments to gift embellishments. I love the look of old book pages in this craft, but you can use any paper that you’d like. I would recommend a text weight paper, as opposed to cardstock, since it’s easier to bend and fold.

This is one of those crafts that is both easy and versatile. Similar techniques are used for Days 1, 3, and 6 of the calendar, and you can use the same technique to create everything from glittered greeting cards and envelopes to place cards. Ah, glitter. It’s completely addictive!

Before I get started on the actual tutorials for the 13 Days of Halloween calendar project, I want to share some of the supplies that I use again and again throughout the project, as well as some helpful tips that you can use as you’re making the individual crafts. Oh, and I need to give you the numbers to download, too!

Tips

I’ve made two sets of numbers: one is the original set that you see in the calendar that I made, and the second set is one uniform design. One of the great things about this project is that, if you’re pressed for time or just don’t feel like making all of the projects, you can choose a favorite or two and make the entire calendar using those projects. And, if you have kids and want to make the calendar with them, projects like the tissue paper ghosts (Day 12) or the treat boxes (Day 11) are very kid-friendly.

Circular numbers can be punched out with a 1″ circle paper punch, and I’ve left a bit of room to move within the circle so the cut lines won’t show when you punch out the circles.

Supplies

Most of the “core” supplies used in the individual crafts are things that you probably already have on hand if you craft, and many of these are used in multiple projects, so you can gather them together and keep them on hand as you move through the different projects.

• a pair of small craft scissors
• glue dots (small Zots are a great size to use in this project)
• large toothpicks (the ones I use are 4″ long) or skewers cut to size
• Martha Stewart glitter in the following colors (I’m obsessed with my Martha glitters!): Sterling, Hematite, Onyx, Fire Opal, and Golden Beryl
• a ballpoint glue pen ( Martha Stewart has one with a fine point that makes it great for filling in finer lines and small areas)
• school glue
• an Xacto knife
• a cutting mat
• a ruler
• various paper punches
• a pencil
• a small paintbrush
• a double-ended stylus for scoring
• a hot glue gun
• a bone folder

Display

I used a few old school chalk and crayons to display my calendar, but you can use a small shelf, cardboard/acrylic/wood boxes, or any small, freestanding piece that has little compartments for the different days.
